local is home.

OUR STORY isn't all that unique. Two New Yorkers about to start a family move to the heart of North Carolina. The year's 2020, and the hospitality industry has taken a huge hit. Everything as we knew it had changed, and as we embraced a new life in the Triangle, we hunted down some typical New York favorites: great pizza, bagels, authentic Szechuan, Greek food, and donuts. We were grateful to find some local gems, but we realized the passion for one rose above all others. (pun intended)

Donuts have always had our hearts, and stomachs, too. We took a family recipe and worked on it for two years, trying again and again to craft a donut that tasted like home- but carried the unique flavor and nostalgia of our Hellenic heritage. After a few moves, two kids, career changes, and one pretty wild, spiritual light bulb moment, that family recipe became a donut we brought to every holiday, church service, and even friends' weddings. We were lucky enough to develop relationships with some other community members who had a passion for carbs and welcoming people in with a smile. Michael and Melissa Phillips of Phillips Farms of Cary helped us make our donuts available to everyone in the Triangle area.

 

We know we're far from what you'd consider locals... BUT Chris and I would like to think that just about everyone can become family sitting at the table with a sweet treat in hand that's been crafted with intention. We know there are so many more of us out there in the Triangle, looking for home in this brand new (to us), beautiful place. Local Donuts is for you - whether you're a born and bred local or new to the place, trying to put down roots and embrace a new culture and community. This is our way of saying welcome. Relax, you belong here, now. Food brings people together, and people coming together makes just about anyplace feel like home

Find us at Busbee's at Phillips Farms for fresh, yeast donuts with a little Hellenic inspiration and a "hole" lot of love.
